Sustainability

White Syke Chocolatier uses as many local ingredients and suppliers as possible, including dairy from Longley Farm and coffee from Dark Woods (about half a mile down the lane). Whilst not everything can come from close by, we still try to use British ingredients, which helps reduce our carbon footprint.

Having not quite achieved the climate for growing cocoa in Yorkshire… we still use sustainable chocolate manufacturers that have a close working relationship with the cocoa farmers and give back to local communities. Many large chocolate producers do not adhere to these values, meaning the chocolate industry is not quite as ‘fair-trade’ as it claims to be. Luckily we have found some companies which not only give high quality and tasty chocolate, but tick our ethical boxes.

Our packaging is sustainable too and we only use companies which have important sustainability practices. There is even research happening at the moment which turns the waste cocoa husk from the chocolate production into paper, and we hope that one day your White Syke orders will arrive in this full circle packaging.
